Truck driver blamed for sparking fire that destroyed fast food restaurant

An eye witness says that a delivery truck driver was responsible for downing power lines and starting a fire the consumed a Hardee’s restaurant in Indiana.

The fire started around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, in Logansport, Indiana.

The Loganville Police Department said that a 911 caller reported that a Hardee’s delivery truck ran into low hanging wires as it entered the restaurant parking lot, the Washington Times Herald reports. The power lines landed on the roof of the restaurant and reportedly caused some equipment to catch fire.

The fire quickly spread to consume most of the restaurant.

Firefighters nearly had the blaze under control within an hour, but then part of the roof collapsed, and the influx of air created a fireball.

No injuries were reported.

The Hardee’s is considered a total loss, but there are already plans to rebuild a new Hardee’s in the same location.

The incident remains under investigation. The identity of the truck driver hasn’t been released and it isn’t clear whether charges will be filed.
